I am looking to have 1500 4" concrete blocks (9"x18") laid. How many can the average brickie lay in a day?

  1. Dont pay by the day they'll take ages get a price it will be done quicker about 20p a brick

It depends on the bricky and on what you intend on having built obviously a strait wall is a lot easier than say a garage but a good guide would be £1.00 - £1.20 per block if you were supplying sand and cement, and remember the cheapeast quote isn't always the best, get a recomendation from some one you know

  3. Not a great field of work at the moment, because of the recession.  You would be lucky to get work in construction right now.

  4. withn the drop in housebuilding the availabilty of brickies is betterr. You should expect a decent brickie to be laying about 200 - 250 blocks a day in good conditions with a labourer.

    If the wall has angles and pillars you would be best to get a price for the job. Ask him to quote with and without supply of materials and see if you can source it cheaper.
