I always had aspirations of being a flight attendant. but I am comming from a really messed up past. I have three years of recovery from substance abuse and worked making wedding cakes, a job that doesnt require a lot of social interraction...I was always in the "back" making party/wedding cakes/ pastries...etc.

I just thougth maybe its possible to still pursue the dream.. so i f there are any flight attendants out there...please....any words of wisdom?

thanks

  1. Putting up with with some pretty messed up attitudes of some people

  2. Dealing with the public

  3. the hardest thing if you are a straight man is that everyone thinks you must be g*y

beyond that there is lot of standing for hours on end

lots of dealing with difficult customers

and everything goes wrong you can't jump out the nearest exit, you stay to help everyone else get off first

  4. cleaning up the sick

  5. i love to fly, but serving people...

  6. Missing out on family gatherings and really not having a place to call home.

  7. If I were you I would try at first being a waitress, that way you can learn interacting with people.Just remember this always treat others as you would want to be treated.

  8. Being nice to people who are total jerks. That would be my guess.

  9. Being a flight attendant is a great job but you do not get on the exotic routes for the first couple of years at least.  You will mainly serve on in-country flights or even commuter flights within the same state or between two states etc.  One of the biggest problems while being a flight attendant is dealing with drunks.  People can become impaired very quickly at 35,000 feet and if they are nasty drunks on the ground, they are doubly nasty in the air.
