What's the human brain's memory capacity?

Can the human brain run out of long-term memory? What happens if memory maxes out, for example, when one photographically incorporates a thousand movies into his head or memorizes 10,000 books forwards and backwards down to the last letter? Assume a long enough life span or possibly near physical-immortality for the person to test the brain to the limit

  1. My husband said that brain storage capacity can be infinite.

  2. I am not a specialist by any means but my understanding is that the brain can create new connections and actually grow as it is used more.

  3. There is an unlimited amount of long term memory.

  4. "Living humans have a cranial capacity ranging from about 950 cc to 1800 cc, with the average about 1400 cc."

  5. well you have guys like Solomon Shereshevskii who can't forget.  (true and documented) and then you have amnesiacs, so it's a pretty wide range.  It really depends on the person and what condition they are in when you catch them.  If they've had too little sleep too much sleep, if they're on any medications, a steady diet...  Overall I'd say that the human brain won't run out of memory, so don't worry, knowledge more or less stays with you, the more you use it the easier it is to recall the information.  If you read something once, you can probably stress yourself to remember details years later.

  6. Depends on the capacity of the person , each individual with differ. But the brain capacity is unlimited and should never be thought of as having a  limited capacity.
