I know there's a scientific explanation for why we turned off the lights at 8 yesterday...besides that we were helping save energy. 10 pts for BA

  1. I think if everyone did it it could somehow impact the environment positively, I was at a Queensryche concert last night and my two teens turned off the lights and used oil lamps, they asked if the house smelled like oil! If everyone did it once a month, WOW!

  2. There isn't a scientific explanation, and very little energy will be saved, but it brings the whole "green" thing on to the world stage and hopefully we will all be more aware of wasted energy.

  3. since this year it "GO GREEN" they ttok a certain hour out o the day to turn off all electricty to save energy

  4. No, it's not scientific at all, it's economic.  Someone is making a great deal of money off this.  Turning off the lights had no bearing on anything, it just put a lot of money into somebody's pocket.

  5. quite frankly, i think it is a useless exercise in mass hysteria/control. "oh, but think of how much carbon - emission is reduced, even for just one hour "....errr....,yeah...great idea...except for the horrendous power surge when every-one turns their lights, air-con and gadgets back ON,..... all at the same time.....the power grid becomes like an  olympic weightlifter straining to lift the weight and  exerting MORE energy in seconds than he/she did over the previous 24 hours.  a good example of "feel-good "politics. i would hypothesise that LESS energy would be used, running the grid for the full 24 hour cycle with averaged-out loading.

  6. i think that it is everyone in the world coming together and doing somethingTOGETHER.GLOBAL WARMING IS BECOMING A huge PROBLEM. some say its political, some say its a hoax, and others tr5y to stop it. do the right thing and dont be ingorant like some of the other people (im not saying u are) just try to help the earth and show people that every by shutting offf the lghts for an hour that helps

  7. It was a demonstration that individual action does have an effect and does make a difference.  The advocates of waste and pollution like to claim it doesn't.  You should see some hard numbers as to the actual impact in in few days.

  8. Mass hysteria is a fact of nature, you enjoy a football match much more when you are watching with 60,000 fans in a stadium than at home on your own. Therefore although the powers that be don't understand it fully they reckon, why not try it to see if it could change the momentum of peoples' attitude to Global Warming using this method to start and save our planet

  9. I think it was to show support for the cause. lol. i have no idea.
