  1. i dont mean to offend, but your question is a bit vague. i will assume that you are reffering to production (ie filming) in film. first of all, you must consider local taxes. by which i mean city and state. i live in CA and nothing makes me more upset than to see production running to canada and the southwest (to name a few, also england is a big one).  this is becuase the democrats (i am one so i say this with soem sincirety) dont understand that raising corporate taxes just drives business away. Globalisation has had a dramatic effect. it made it possible for corporations to leave when taxes increase. the reason: since global shipping has increased exponentially, the long run average cost has decreased as quantity shipped has increased. if you are an econ person then the best way to put it is that the economies of scale of transportation have dramatically increased. so, it is now cheap to just pick up and leave and work else where.

    hope that wasnt to much

  2. The effect is mainly to allow performers in one country to enter markets across the world.  From the perspective of the performers, this can allow certain people to become megastars across the world.  It can also enable people who are not very successful inside their home market to become famous in foreign markets (eg David Hasselhoff singing).  From the perspective of the consumer in countries that are net exporters of entertainment, it is almost always seen as a gain, because in addition to their country's entertainers, they gain access to movies, music, etc from countries around the world; they gain greater variety without sacrificing their own culture.  In countries that are net importers of entertainment, the greater variety is a positive effect, but some people might not like that local stars are being replaced by foreign entertainment; they may feel that their culture is being threatened.

It is difficult to separate the effects of globalization and those of technology.  Globalization in entertainment would be nearly impossible without recorded sound and picture, and the internet has helped greatly with bands who don't have a record label recording their own music and releasing it worldwide.  Plus, the developments in globalization and technology happened essentially in the same time period.

I think that globalization has increased the returns to superstars, because with little to no extra effort, they can increase their fanbase, but I'm not sure about the effect on smaller acts.  It can help by introducing performers to markets other than their home market, but it also increases the barriers to entry (even though those have been partially knocked down by the internet, but that's only in the past few years) because a lot of success in entertainment relies on becoming known to the public to begin with, and that is very difficult to do without large amounts of money.

  3. Remember the Beatles? UK band makes it big in American Market.  Thats Globalization's impact on Entertainment.
