  1. Any job that requires you to help others and maybe puts you in a position others would not like to be in (like living in impoverished countries like Africa in the same way the poor live, not like most people who go there but sleep in a nice hotel).

I also believe that any job can give you great karma if you don't use it to hurt someone else. There are people who would work for some company they know their enemies want to be involved with and they'll go there just to get connections and when the one they hate tries to find a job, they find themselves not being able to get it because of the person causing harm.

Also, I don't think it helps if the reason you do it is for the karma. You shouldn't do the job for that reason, but because you truly want to do it. It usually starts with you, what you want and feel like doing. If the job is to help others, than you find any job that does that for you. Do the job without expecting anything back and the karmic level will be high. Do it with expectations and you lower that level.

You should read some articles on karma to know for sure what you need to do. Check out the sites below and try to understand a little more and once you do, you'll realize what you should do.

  2. Sister Teresa exemplified a true spirit of helping the unfortunate and in return was recognized and made a saint.

  3. Probably librarian; Lao Tzu worked as a librarian.  If someone as wise as him chose that for his profession it must be the best possible job for spiritual development.  Library science isn't easy though, as a person has to organize volumes of books.  Also while the Dewey decimal system is still the norm, computers have replaced the card catalogs of old.

I dream of an entire city being a library; a library the size of an entire city.  Going sci fi here, the world of the future might have whole planets that are libraries.  Author Timothy Zann envisioned the world of Coruscant, which in the original Star Wars fiction did not exist, a world were the entire planet was one big city.  Likely in the future there may be a world were the whole planet is a library; a carefully tended garden, or with quiet places for people to read or just simply relax in the quiet.

Humanity may amass so much knowledge if it ever manages to leave this planet, entire planets may need to be used as libraries.  Karmically speaking; no one gets hurt, no one gets exploited, and who ever heard of a "corrupt and amoral librarian?"

"Ah yeah, this just in News at 7; Librarian Tony Adriani was accused of sexually assaulting a 45 year old graduate student.  Allegedly the librarian claimed she enticed him and...."

Tell me, how often will you hear that?  Think about it; of all jobs in human history, the job of "librarian" likely has the cleanest history.
