1. on the whole they speak english. although ireland, scotland and wales (pronuced 'whales') each have their own language.

the other language that people from wales speak is welsh

    eg. ysgafn - light

as you can see the language is quite different but most people i the Uk know english, though they have different accents depending were in the UK you are.

  2. First of all LONDON is not a country. Secondly English is widely spoken, but in Wales they speak Welsh, in Scotland they also speak Scots & ScotsGaelic. In Ireland they speak English, Erse & Irish Gaelic.

  3. it's called english!

  4. English is the common language in the UK but there are other languages native to specific countries or areas . In Scotland , Scots Gaelic is the original language and still spoken especiallyin Highland areas . In Ireland , Irish Gaelicc or Erse is spoken and is similar to Scots Gaelic. In Wales ( pronounced way - els ) Welsh is spoken and many people are bi lingual . The small island in the Irish Sea called Isle of Man also has a form of Gaelic known as Manx .

In the south west of England in a part known as Cornwall Cornish ( an English Gaelic ) was spoken but is virtually extinct .

  5. Don't worry, everyone there these days speaks English. Long ago (long, LONG ago) people in Scotland and Ireland spoke a language called Gaelic, and a lot of the words still survive today, but it's rare to find anyone who actually speaks the stuff.

  6. Most people can speak English, But English isn't spoke exclusivly in the Uk

In Wales we have our own Language "Cymraeg" Welsh which is a Celtic language but not a Gaelic one, Let me explaine

The Celtic family has 2 branches, Brythonic and Goidelic, Welsh, Cornish and Breton (Spoken in Northern France) Are similar languages and are fairly intelligable with effort these are the languages that came from Welsh when the saxons arrived and pushed them out, Goidelic are the Gaelic languages all derived from old Irish(Gaeilge) Irish then migrated to Scotland Where scot's gaelic began to change from the Irish Gaelic, Then scots travel to the Isle of Man which was welsh speaking at the time and took Socts Gaelic with them which then changed and now forms Manx Gaelic,

In Wales , Welsh and English are official Languages and should be treated on the basis of Equality, All Uk government websites forms and so on are also available in Welsh, The Welsh assembly government administrates bilingualy with alot of welsh being spoken in the chamber, In Wales Welsh is spoken more and more the more west you go, For Example all though only around 28% of the population of Wales speaks Welsh (The number is rising) in Carmarthenshire,Gwynedd, Anglesea and Cardiganshire all retain a Welsh speaking Majority.,

    Welsh is spoken by around

    800 000 people in Wales

    150 000 + of people in England

Propably a few thousand in Scotland and Northern Ireland too,

Irish is spoken by around 365 000 people in the republic but by only 155 000 people in Northern Ireland,

Scots gaelic is spoken by around 60 000 people in Scotland

Note Scots and old language related to English and is practically English but is a different language in my personal opinion is spoken by 30% of Scots which gives it around 600 000 speakers ,

Manx and cornish did die out but have been succesfully revived

Around 8000 people have the knowledge of Manx (133 native)

And around 500 people are fluent bilinguals with a furhter 3000 being able to converse in Cornish with some degree

  7. they all speak English, but with varying clarity due to their accents.

Ireland, Scotland and Wales also have their own language from Celtic origins.

Wales is pronounced the same as plural sea animal "whales".

  8. The most widely spoken language in england, Scotland, Ireland and Wales (pronouced the same as "whales") is English.

    The countries national languages are:

    Scotland - gaelic

    Ireland - Gaelic

    Wales - Welsh

    england - English.
