What's the largest reported IRA balance ever recorded?

I am guessing that this may be a rather large amount since they can grow when a child inherits it from a parent(s) upon the parent's (or parents') death. I wouldn't be surprised if the answer is in the $50M-$500M range, especially since this inheritance can span several generations. Just curious.

actually ira's were invented about 40 years ago.

so they cannot be that old.

however, you can convert a 401k or other plan to an ira, and that can be much larger.

at least a couple mil for ordinary folks.
