Moving to Highland Park area of Los Angeles near Avenue 60 near the 110 Freeway. Some words used to describe those onramps that go from STOP to 65mph in seconds are "death-defying." Okay, for someone who wants to limit his stress, does anyone have a favorite (as in least scary) onramp?

  1. Not being from Los Angeles, I never understood why there were traffic lights on the on ramps.  When I was entering the freeway, it felt like a drag race! Growing up, I was always taught to speed up on onramps so that your speed matches the freeway speed by the time you began to merge.  Starting from a complete stop really makes that a challenge, especially if you do not have a powerful car.  So AGAIN, I do not understand why LA uses that measure.  Just let people merge on normally!
