What's the legal age to start base jumping / skydiving / parachuting ?

I'm 16 and since i was a little brat my dream was to... skydive. It's my dream and i'd love to fulfill it.

How much does it cost, the school, the jump, etc. and what's the legal age?

I'm not sure of costs because it differs country to country, lots of adverts for first jump courses on the net, look in google etc. I did my first a couple of weeks back, once you start you cant get enough..I am doing static line progression mainly because its cheaper than aaf. check it out you wont look back.

most dropzones are too worried about getting in trouble with the faa or uspa or well anyone. They are paranoid about getting sued and unless your like the jump masters kid you probably wont be able to jump til your 18 even with a parents permission.

  Someone mentioned static line. Dont bother getting trained on static line. Its only relevent in the military. Aff is essential if you want to skydive at a drop zone or with anyone else. Noone wants to jump with someone that has no experience, its dangerous.

You want to go to a drop zone that offers aff training. this place should be affiliated with the uspa simply because it means that they have invested a lot into being a good dropzone.

again DO NOT DO STATIC LINE.  Its only something that people who know nothing about skydiving think would b a good idea because they want to save some money.

Keep in mind that any skydiving person with a d license can sign off on your a license. times are tough and its easy to pay for b.s instruction. Do your homework and dont cut corners with skydiving. Cut corners with something that wont kill you so easily.

Most dropzones (skydiving locations) require you to be 18, but several will let you start when you are 16.  There is no law on age, just the USPA rules, which do not have to be followed if you don't go to a USPA member dropzone.  Go to dropzone.com to find dropzones near you.

As for base jumping, get 200 skydives, and then go to snakeriverbase.com, and register for a first jump course.
