  1. I wrote John McCain a check and put it in the mailbox.  If Obama becomes president, it won't be because I didn't try to stop it.


  2. Sent 4Th of July flags out to all my friends. , But I  missed The parade due to being sick. But gave the grand kids money for  extra fire works. as that a big deal for them. And they know what the 4th represents.But did  not get much done because of being sick t I support and love our troops every day. They are our finest. God Bless each one of them.  and God Bless America.

  4. I read the Declaration of Independence to myself.

    Afterwards I felt a renewed sense of what makes America so special. I thought about how the 13 little colonies rebelled against almighty England to form a new nation. Then I listened to patriotic music. It sound's corny, but it makes me proud! Later I watched fire works at the lake by my house.

  5. I wrote my son who is getting ready to go to Afghanistan in two weeks.

    It rained and we didn't have fireworks. I watched biographies of Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Benjamin Franklin.

    We lost him in Feb 2004 in Mosul. We go three times a

    year to see him. We send flags and wreaths for others as

    well. It is a grand day for us. He brought us great joy and

    Honor. to all family members of the Gold Star unit, walk

    in peace. And may your hearts be filled with fond rememberence of those who Protected and served.

  8. I celebrated my 21st birthday!!!! Bar after bar I would walk in yelling HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY! and by the time I left the bar people were yelling HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I dont really remember too much else from that night....haha

  10. All day and night My family and I flew our nations flag PROUDLY. In the morning we read excerpts from our constitution and the bill of rights. We BBQ'd lots of red meat then ate it. We blew stuff up in violation of our local law then discussed how having the freedom to violate the law without REAL fear is a freedom exclusive to US.

    And please add our voices to yours in saying "God Bless our Troops!"

  15. Went to our Nations Capital, Washington DC and attended the fireworks at night in the National Mall.  The loud bangs the commotion! our monuments! It was a beautiful moment to be an American!

    By the way how to forget my $27.00 McDonald's lunch that consisted on 2 combos!

    2) Wrote to my two senators, my congressman, and the governor of my state (Illinois) about changing a law as a result of reading said books.

    3) Now reading "The Rights of Man" by Thomas Paine

  19. I became a statistic to justify the existence of the 911 system and the Fire Department when I called the to report a grass fire across the street from my house.

  20. A country is pathetic when we consider singing the national anthem, attending a fireworks show, and applauding a parade to be the most patriotic thing we did to celebrate.

    I, personally, believe there needs to be sacrifice in order to display patriotism...not celebration. Not neccesarily military service, but effort in life.

I don't know if its such a big deal but my VFW post helped pass out bar b que at Jefferson Barracks VA hospital, and we also visited and took bar bq to some of the vets up at John Cochran VA Hospital, (as here in St Louis we have 2 hosptials,) We also on the 5th took a couple of van loads of paitents from the va out on a pass down to fair st louis and to watch fireworks.

I took my two sons target shooting for a couple of hours then went to visit grandma for awhile and I prepared a most delicious baby back ribs and BBQ hamburgers and brats with plenty of sides and then hours and hours of fireworks. It was just too cool. We had too many fireworks so we finished the rest off on the 5th.
