The Bridge. It makes your say, why would they want to film something like that! I can't give you the details about the film, but you just have to watch it.

  1. cannibal holocaust, a clockwork orange

  2. Cannibal Holcaust

After its 1980 premiere, the film's print was confiscated by the city's magistrate. Later, Deodato faced life in prison when Italian authorities believed the stars of his film were really killed. The actors finally appeared on TV to prove otherwise.

    Passion of the Christ

    Deep Throat

    Clockwork Orange

    Natural Born Killers

    United 93

    The Birth of a Nation

  3. I've seen The Bridge. Several times. At first I did wonder why they would want to film it, but now I kinda get it. Don't really know how to explain it though.

  4. The Birth of a Nation from 1915.  The KKK were the good guys...

  5. Some would argue it was "Citizen Cane" or "The Exorcist".  More recently, however, there have been many (documentaries like "An Inconvenient Truth", "Baghdad For Sale", etc. are not counted as they can always be controversial in one way or another) which could include:

    American History X

    The Crying Game

    JFK

    Natural Born Killers

    Schindler's List

    The Last Temptation of Christ

    The Passion of the Christ

    (to name just a few)

  6. Probably 'The Exorcist'

Mind you, I was watching Brian de Palma's "Redacted" recently, and that's pretty shocking.

  7. The Passion of the Christ

  8. A movie called retarded was so controversial that it never came out due to some serious reasons !

  9. Well "Requiem For A Dream" has some pretty shocking scenes in it but I LOVE THAT MOVIE! I've seen "American History X" but I don't think it's AS controversial as "Requiem For A Dream".

  10. That would be no other than The Crying Game.

  11. Cannibal Holocaust - no question.

With it's real depictions of animal slaughter (the turtle scene is forever engrained in my mind!) and the nearly-perfect marketing by its director, Cannibal Holocaust's infamy will never be matched.

The director was actually brought up on homocide charges because of the graphic depiction of human sacrifice and cannibalism. He had to call in the actors and actresses to prove that they were indeed still alive.

  12. Never heard of it.

    Some contenders might be:

    Showgirls

    American History X

    Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)

    Faces of Death
