Hi Guys, I am looking to backpack in Ecuador and Peru in September and October and was wondering if there is an economical way of visiting the Galapagos? Also, what other places in Ecuador do you recommend visiting? Thanks!

  1. From Ecuador, there are economical options. Only you should have idea about the places you are interested for, because the are offers with few o a lot visit of islands. My husband and me were two years ago, we payed for the airline´s tickets from Guayaquil to Baltra Island $200 for everyone. The tour for 5 days costed $ 450 for everyone (included hotel, food, yatch...).

You muss pay $100 in Baltra (tax for conservation).

That was our best experience of our lives, Galapagos is the paradise!!!

I recomend you also Quito (very beautiful city with a lot options), Cuenca (very similar to Quito), Otavalo and its lakes and volcanos, Banos, Papallacta ( termalpools near to Quito), from the coast: beaches of the province Esmeraldas: Monpiche, Atacames, near of Casa Blanca, another beaches Montanita, Olon, here you can see the humpback whales und eat delicious seefood!!!

after to speak a lot about Ecuador, i wish to be there soon!!!

    Enjoy your travel

  2. My husband and I looked into doing that before deciding upon Argentina and other places in that part of the continent.  (we just got back).  Unfortunately, there is no truly economical way to see the Galapagos.  It is a highly protected area and therefore you have to go with a "group" or tour, you cannot go alone.  Those trips we looked into were mighty expensive for what you get.  If you want to see nature, visit the Amazon.  We went to the jungle down there and it is beautiful!  We went to the Igauzu waterfalls and they are spectacular.  True, it is not the Galapagos, but way more affordable and we had money to do other stuff.

  3. You should go Uganda. Im from North. I havent seen such relax air before. And search ecuadors tour its quite cheap. Good Luck!!
