i was in a car in the evening- around 7- from the city to the hamptons, so i was somewhere wooded in long island, when by the side of the road i saw two pairs of flashing eyes and i could make out the silhouette of a wolf-like shape and bushy tails. one was bigger than the other, which was standing in front. does anyone know what animal this most likely was?

  1. coyotes are being spotted in many different states now.  Michigan, Illinois, etc.  and many of my classmates have actually spotted some, so I would say coyote.  Were you by cities or in more country-open like areas?  Coyotes seem to stick around villages to get a chance of eating someone's pet, so if it was a coyote, protect any pets u have.

  2. Housepets aren't the only use people find for dogs.  They are used on farms and often run loose for days.  I have seen packs of farm dogs take down a deer in the middle of the highway in seemingly the middle of nowhere.

Foxes are very small and usually solitary, coyotes and wolves would be an extremely rare site in the Eastern US.  But if it was any of the three it was most likely a coyote.

    Probably just dogs.

  3. Wild dogs, or domasticated dog that had become strayed or loss or was off leash.

Definately not a wolf, unless a zoo near by had a problem.

A dear and a bady possible, coyote is a loner, possible it was fox.

  4. Foxes are the most common of the three but are shorter-legged than wolves. Coyotes are a possibility. Are you sure that it wasn't a couple of German shepherds?

  5. Rats

    maybe then coyotes

could you not have seen a dog ??
