I am thinking about converting my mom's '05 Nissan Quest to all electric. What's the most powerful motor and where can I get it for how much?

  1. why dont you junk the electric motor idea, and make it rear wheel drive and install a top fuel v-8 in there. they have over 7000 hp!!

  2. The one with the most torque is the Net Gain 11".  It is a large motor for trucks.  Most people use the Advanced DC 9" in cars this size due to cost.  A slightly better motor in the efficiency department is the Net Gain Warp 9" but a bit more expensive.

  3. Do not do it. It would be nearly impossible for any hobbyist to do such a conversion. Take the brakes for instance. Last I checked brakes ran off of mostly engine vacuum. How would your mom use her brakes with an electric engine? You'd have to hook up some sort of vacuum to the brake booster and there are all sorts of other problems you'd encounter. If you want to make an electric vehicle build yourself a go kart, put an electric motor on it, put bumpers on it at regulation height, put headlights on it, and work from there. It would be much simpler believe it or not.
