Question:

What's the muscle? Forward splits, heel stretch, arabesque.?

I need help locating which muscles I need to improve the flexibility of.

Splits-

Using various pieces of furniture I've managed to set myself up in a position where I am basically in the splits position but my front leg is bent at the knee (hanging off the end of the chair). In this position I can get fully down. However, when I straighten my front leg I can't get as low down (infact it pushed me inches up). I'd like to know what muscle is it that is too short and is preventing me from straightening my front leg and thus preventing me from doing the splits.

Heel Stretch - I assume that once I get my splits I'll be able to get a higher heel stretch? At the moment I'm at about a 2 oclock position.

Arabesque- I recently found out I have tight quads so I'm stretching them out. Are there any other muscles to focus on? I've been told I have a very good bridge so I don't think back flexibility is the problem.

  1. you definitely need to stretch out hamstrings--put ur leg up against a wall and hold it there after about ten seconds move ur foot higher-- this gets u more stretched out ane ur heelstretch will be higher and ur splits will get flatter

    for splits what i usually do is get into a strattle sit and push against the was and get as close as u can to the walland hold it for a while-- this will stretch ur inner thighs and help ur splits get flatter

    after ur done practicing and stretching make sure u do a light stretch so ur muscles dont get sore

    ** take deep breaths while u are stretching and u will stretch farther

  3. moslty it is your calf muscles your splits im sure its your hip but your hip doesnt have a muscle but you have to use your hips in a arabesque its your hips too and i think some part of your calf it's in your leg somewhere but since i was born with flexibility i can do all those things easily and im just in junior ballet but my teacher told us when you get out of the tub try to do a split while your muscles are still warm i really don't know what you mean my heel stretch you're probably not saying it right it sounds like you mean demi pointe but i can't help you with that one well in arabesque it's just like doing a plit but in the air when i was in class i just put my cheerleading and ballet and flexibility skills together and i made a perfect arabesque always stretch before you do an arabesque too one time when i leaped into the air my legs popped and when i landed down i slipped and fell and hurt my ankle but do those second position leg stretches and do this while you're up against a wall go *** far as you can i can go as far where my privacy touches the wall but thats because im flexibile do a whole lot of stretching excersises cause when i wake up i do a split and a grand battema (however you spell the weird word) lol well i hope i helped...
