  1. True, it's against racing's rules to name another horse "Barbaro", but it would NOT be against the rules use the name "Barbaro Too", or "Barbaro II".  I think that's what BarrelRacer meant, just didn't make it clear.

Anyway, I can find no info about his 2007 full-brother.  As said above, it's not likely that one will get a name until next year, when he's registered as a yearling with the NYRA.

  2. The 2007 edition has not yet been named.  You can check to see when young horses have been named through the Breeders' Cup Nominations page.  Here is the info for that colt https://nominations.breederscup.com/bcFo...

Chances are that they will name the colt after another fox hound in their famous lithograph.

  3. He isn't named yet. He will most likely be named when he a yearling.

  4. Barrel Racer - it is impossible for the name Barbaro to ever be used again in America - the names of winners of the Kentucky Derby (amongst other races) are protected.  It is possible that a horse may be named Barbaro if they are born and registered in another country - Ireland, GB, etc.

As for the 2007 foal out of La Ville Rouge, the others are correct in saying that he has not been named yet.  Some peole name their foals, others wait until they are yearlings, but the vast majority are not named until they are 2 years old.  The main reason for this is that most horses will be sold as foals or yearlings and the new owner will want to name thier horse themselves.  If a horse has already been named it will cost you more money to change the name to something you want.  Once a horse has raced, it is impossible to change its name.

  5. his name is barbaro too....he's expected to win the  kentucky derby whenever he starts his career. I watched the Barbaro movie on HBO and they were talking about the 2007 colt.

  6. They don't name the babies...  they wait for them to be yearlings at least...  then people don't usually use their name until their first race.  The foals all go by their mom's name.  The dam is La Ville Rouge, so the foal is 'the La Ville Rouge colt'... and when he gets shipped to a trainer, usually they just call it the dam's name.  It will probably be different for Barbaro's siblings because it's not just any horse, it's related to Barbaro so people will probably know their names.  They're probably either going to be called by their names or going to be called Barbaro.

???  2 thumbs down  ???  alright... except for how everything in my answer is completely true and informative.  the only other info i could possibly give is that the horse will be named whatever the 3rd dog's name is on the Jacksons's lithograph is.  but that still doesn't answer the question.  lets see you give a better answer... or admit that you voted the thumbs down.

edit: adding to the recent discussion of how Barbaro's name can't be used again... true...  and it's possible to do a Barbaro variation, but I really don't see the Jacksons doing that.  I saw a suggestion on here last year that there would be a foal named BarbaBRO...  i thought that was amusing.  Not a good idea or something that will happen...  but amusing!
