What's the name of the gold jewelry made in Spain?

I don't remember but I think I have a piece of such jewelry.  I purchased it at The Tulsa State Fair many years ago.  I think the jewelry was made by Franciscan Monks.

That is called "TOLEDO GOLD".

If you ever visit the city of Toledo, approx 1 hour drive from Madrid, you will see many artisans practing their art in front of their shops. They are very proud of their craftmanship and willing to show how they make jewelry; sometimes they let you try on your own.

The yellow foil they use is actually gold

And it is used on steel in swords, daggers, etc.

and in gold or silver for jewelry.

This type of handcraft and jewelry making originated with the egyptians, greek, and romans. The word comes from the name of the city of Damascus, referring  originally to a cloth with the name "damask", the designs, mostly swirls and arabesques, used in both the cloth and the gold work were once similar.

The artisans of Toledo refined and adapted the "damasquinado" to their own taste.. And have been making it for centuries
