  2. It was Kerri Strug.  She lives in the same building as my brothers friend and we see her all the time.

  6. Well if you are referring to this Olympics, the girl who has a broken ankle is gymnast Chellsie Memmel.

    The most memorable one, however, was gymnast Kerri Strug several years ago, who sprained her ankle and did the vault anyway, leading the US to gold. Her coach carried her to the platform.

    P.S. - It wasn't Mary Lou Retton from the 84 Olympics. She vaulted a perfect 10 but did not have a sprained ankle that I know of.
