  1. m*******t-fu

  2. I think his name is Jack Daniels.

  3. its all in your mind.

you are talking most probably about Rod Sacharnaski and his "combat ki"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45hWbIy5F...

my instructors instructor used to train with him...alot of shady business but....i've seen my instructor take some serious groin shots. its mostly about breathing, tightening, angling, and mental reinforcement.

i have a video of them doing a "masters test"...but the thing is...they know what shots are coming at them. they sort of know when. they put you against the wall...they're going to elbow you in the chest. they raise your arms...they're going to kick you in the ribs. if they put you on one knee...they're going to kick you in the chest...if you stand there with your legs spread they're going to kick you in the groin (just raise up and curl your hips under and they miss the jewels) ...nothing really mystical about it to me. and...i doubt they could do it in a live situation. and the blindfold is pointless because as i said, they know what's going to happen anyway. i mean, what happens when i say im gonna kick you in the groin, but i punch you in the throat instead?

dont get me wrong, they're really hitting the people. and they really can take a shot from just about anyone from throat to groin...but can you do it in a fight? that's the real question.

it's beginnings are in okinawa (for them)...and what uechi ryu karate, and goju ryu karate call sanchin. (samcheen in china i think) ...it's not only the things i listed above, but also body posture, which muscles are tight, which are loose...etc etc. ...for example everyone wants to know why wing chun, and uechi people have their "pigeon toed" positions. if you feel your shin with your foot straight forward its all bone. if you put your heel out..there's a sheath of muscle that somewhat covers the bone.

its also like natural tension. or...tension without actively SQUEEZING your muscles. you can hit them in the stomache and its hard..but theyre not squeezing...theyre pushing it out and down. the pigeon toed stance torques your muscles in such a way that they are poised and tight, yet loaded like a spring and don't slow down your movements.

they actually 'test' your sanchin by hitting you while doing the kata.

a big part of it too is posture and skeletal alignment. you pull down your shoulders with your lat muscles (side of your back under your arms) thus..when you get hit there all the "vital points" or whatever are covered with muscle (armor)...the elbows are kept close to the body because the further away they are, the weaker you are. the arms are always bent at greater than 90 degrees so as to rely on structure rather than strength to deflect incoming force.

  4. The art of marital problems, that's "marital" not to be confussed with "martial", being married is the number one art form for learning how to deal with a "constant nagging pain".  It's the kind of pain that never goes away.....it's always there just eating at you and eating at you....constantly.

  5. umm well shaolin kung-fu has a daily program that hardens your body like steal by beating the **** out of it if that's what you mean. Also Muay could be it.

  6. Ninpo:  It's more of a philosophy within the Ninjitsu lifestyle than a martial art, but there are some physiological carry-overs also.  Most styles of Kung Fu also practice these techniques.  Not  only can they take pain, but there body typically does not suffer nearly as significant damage either.

  7. Life.....

I saw a couple shaolin Monks take a stick about 1.25" and 4 ' long and break it over a guys forehead. this guy was small about 125 lbs, I picked up the sticks after I knocked them over, while they were getting ready, it was a good piece of wood, heavier than closet pole and much better grade, I was wondering what the heck they were gonna do with the sticks. When they hit the little guy right between the eyes, I was impressed. No BS, I sat next to these guys for about 3 hours watching them warm up, holy sh*t , they called it "Iron Body"

the little guy did a head stand spread his legs wide and took a two sticks taped together in the nads.....I'm not Kidding

  8. I believe it's a kind of technique used in shaolin Kung Fu, from what I've read it's called Iron Shirt, it's not that they're not feeling pain, it's just that they've been trained to have a higher tolerence for pain. They pretty much condition their bodys to take hits, after a while the blows start to be less and less painful, until they can deal with it enough that it seems like they're not feeling pain.

  9. Iron Shirt or Golden Bell Cover

  10. We do something like this in Shaolin (I take it). I'm not a brown belt, but I know and have seen this brown belt form done, called "Iron Man" (Lol, that may just be the name the local dojos call it, I dunno the chinese name).

While doing this form, you somewhat meditate, regulating your breathing and heart rate. While you are doing the form, all the black belts get to come around and basically beat the **** out of you. Our black belts will even kick you in the ribs (with force), but the person doing the form just continues and appears as if they didn't even feel it. It's a pretty cool form.

I hope this helps you, I could probably add to it if you'd like some more information.

    :-)

  11. thats bull c**p-

everyone feels pain- they just don't show it, what I imagine happens is that they end up with students that have a high pain tolerance because those who don't are weeded out through the process and training.

taking hits and sparring regularly against opponents with intent will increase your pain tolerance, but like anything else it depends on your starting point.  building up more muscle on your body will help too in those areas.

if you faint at the prick of a needle then you won't develop much pain tolerance, but if your attitude is "thank you sir may I have another" when you get hit with a wooden paddle then you can probably increase it to a great deal because you have a high starting point.

or just enjoy standing in a room full of guys dressed in robes in your underwear and having your *** paddled in a homoerotic fasion like kevin bacon does.
