  5. It's called an jetway or airbridge.

  6. It is called a jetway.  This came from it being a means (way) to board and exit an aircraft.  Back when mobile stairs were used, it was always a problem to assist handicap people.  Seeking a means to alleviate the problem, the jetway came into being.  With it extending from the terminal to the jet, it not only solved the problem involving handicapped people, but had the added benefits of providing cover during inclement weather, easier for children (not climbing steps) and better aircraft clearance when it is retracted.
