What's the name of this board game?

In school, we used to play this game. I'm not sure whether it'd be classed as a board game, but it's played on a thick, long rectangular board, with two large chunks out of the end.

With about 6 or 8 little chunks along each side.

And you take the stones and place a certain amount in each.

After all stones have made it into the two large holes, whoever has the most stones, wins.

Mancala games play a role in many African and some Asian societies comparable to that of chess in the West.   2. I looked it up on wikipedia after all these ppl answered. I never heard of it. I could see a person taking an egg carton and cutting and taping something on the ends and play this with stuff you have at home...

  15. It has different names around the world but the origin is most likely African.

    In parts of S-E Asia it's called Chuka Rumah and arrived there from India.
