What's the name of this kitchen gadget please?

We have a fitted kitchen and the refrigerator door is fitted with a little mechanism that allows both it and its fitted door to swing open together. One piece screws to the fridge door outside, and the other to the inside of the fitted wooden door.

It's a kind of sliding mechanism, and ours is broken. I need to replace it, - but what's it called please? And where would I start looking for it?

I could Google it, but don't know what to call it. I could look on Ebay, but the same applies.

I could go looking in shops, -but what kind of shops? DIY? Fitted Kitchen places? White goods stores?

I'm sure I'd just get blank stares if I went into a store and tried to describe this!

  1. Believe what you are describing is called a door Glide, or even a bracket or hinge you can get much information online from sites such as appliancepartspros.com and fixitnow.com there are pictures and descriptions and self help even forums to get help in reparing your refridgerator yourself, you should not be embarrased to ask questions people are only too happy to answer your questions when it comes to repairing yourself they know that you are only a consumer of these appliances and do not know all the names of parts appliances contain, no one will stare at you for this type of information especially if you look online for your part there are lots of pictures all you have to do is match the part to the pictures and order online or go to your nearest appliance repair shop or even call a repair shop that repairs appliance there should be one close to your home and you won't get any blank stares, it's easy just get over your fright when trying to locate a part you are not expected to know all about appliance Good Luck !

  2. take a picture of it.

  3. try your local kitchen fitting company they will be aware of it as they will use them all the time  probably on every installation. Your description was quite clear.

We had one broken in the U.K many years ago and I found that a piece of cord did the job until I called into the kitchen fitters to pick one up they will not be expensive  hope this helps.

  4. From what I understood you are in need of gliders, I have found this link for you I know that's it's in the UK but what you are looking for is probably on this page, all you need is the name of what you are looking for . In case that you need them to be heavy duty go to a cabinet maker or contact a carpenter to replace them for you .
