I remember back when Pogs were all the rage my brother got a handheld electronics game (Similar to the Tiger Electronics type but a different shape) called JumpMan, who jumped to the top of buildings, all you did to play the game was hit the round button at the bottom of it. It was really lame, but it sounds similar to what you're describing.

(Jumpman and Pogs were related... somehow. I think his storyline was that his mother was a human and his father was a... slammer, the metallic/plastic/other material discs you flipped the pogs over with).
