What's the nearest beach in Montreal?

I live in Montreal and I want to go to nice beach to sunbathe and take a swim with my wife and daughter. A friend suggested "Virginia Beach" but it's a bit far? Do you know of some nice beaches closest to Montreal?

Try a lake instead - why not?

The ones in the Eastern Townships (Cantons de l'Est) are pretty amazing actually!

They are about an hour away from Montreal heading southeast towards the U.S border.

There is Hampton Beach in New Hampshire which is about 5 or 6 hours away by car.......The drive is nice also as you drive through the Green Mountains............The beach is like a smaller version of Wildwood............

Old Orchard Beach in Maine, or more patriotically, the east coast of New Brunswick

Locally, try Plage a l'ile Notre Dame, Parc Jean-Drapeau.

Are you looking for an ocean?  If not, there is a beach in Plattsburgh.  There is a beach in Lake George.  The entire eat coast of New Jersey is beach (on the ocean) Wildwood can be fun
