  1. I was in Hanioti in 1998 - it had quite busy nightlife then, add ten years it should be bustling now. Try getting hold of a travel book, lonely planet for example.

  2. I stayed there years ago and it was a bit quiet, but see what these have said

  3. It depends where you go.  Some villages are absolutely dead. You can hear your heart beat.  And then there are other places (Marmara comes to mind) that are really hopping!   So it all depends where you go.  Halkidiki is not just one town, you know, so u will find all kinds of nightlife.

  4. Chalkidiki is considered quite busy during high season. For example Kallithea Chanioti, Pefkochori, Afytos, Fourka etc ( first  "Foot" of Chalkidiki peninsula)

In the second "foot" of Chalkidiki Sarti is very popular, the same with N. Marmaras, also Gerakini is getting more and more busy. In general in short distance you can easily access nice and crowded places.

  5. Well the last 2 years I have worked at a call centre for a british travel company for its customers staying in greece and we did get some complaints from young partyers saying it was too quiet. If you want 18-30's go to Kavos, Laganas or Faliraki.

  6. very busy

  7. quiet ?? you must be kidding

it's really crowded full of clubs

  8. depends on what area, Hanioti is the liveliest , being more bars /cocktail bars, otherwise it is fairly quiet. We travelled around there for 3 weeks and liked Hanioti as it was busy but not lager louty busy, cobbled streets , with street entertainers lots of bars around the square - people watching that type of thing!

In July / August it was very popular with the rich Greeks, who come down from Athens / Theselonika (think that is how it is spelt!) so very traditional and restuarants more Greek than continental ! ( ie not that many that sell uk brits abroad food!) we went 5 years ago,but doubt it has changed that much.

    Have fun !

  9. depends where in halkidiki exactly you are staying as its a big area.

its 3 peninsula's the busiest being Kassandra then Sithonia and finally Mount Athos which is very quiet.

the busiest resort is probably Hanioti as people have already said.

the beaches i think are some of the best in greece and the water is very calm and clear.

airport transfer takes 2-21/2  hours depending on traffic.

i think halkadiki is very pretty and a lovely place for a holiday and i would hire a car and look further afield than just your resort.

I'm sure you will have a lovely time.
