  1. I got my HP dv5z 2.0MHZ AMD anthlon x 2 for $600.  This laptop has a web cam, mic, fingerprint reader bright screen and the best of all it is fast.

  2. Probably anything between $600 and $1100 depending on the use you have in mind.

Like if it's just office work and taking notes or such, you can get a system that'll do just fine for $500-600. If you need it for maybe video editing or gaming (laptop gaming is never really a replacement for a desktop but it'll do sometimes), you'll probably be looking more in the $700-1100 range.

I myself just bought an ASUS M51S for school last week, and decided to spend the extra money on it because I like to play games between lectures sometimes, it was one of the few laptops with a decent non-onboard GPU for that price, and it'll last me a good three years or so at least.

Don't forget future purchases when considering this: why buy a $600 laptop now if you'll only be frustrated and sick of how outdated it'll be in a year when a $1000 one will last you two at least?

PS I've heard some real horror stories about HP laptop hardware, so I'd suggest avoiding HP or Dell (overpriced) and looking at Acer, ASUS, etc or any of the Japanese brands (kinda overpriced though)

  3. If you are not paying at least $800-$1000 dollars on a laptop, you are probably going to buy a laptop that will be seriously out of date within a year.  That is my two cents...  I am buying a Dell Studio 17 with 4gig ram, 250HDD, NVIDIA graphics (in other words, pretty good specs) and it comes to about $1300 and I am sure it will last two to three years before I have to upgrade or something.

  4. You can get a perfectly good everyday laptop for around £300, but if you want the top-end of the market you can pay £3000.

  5. good is $800 to 2,000

I paid $1,999 for my HP laptop/tablet with touch-screen, fingerprint recognition, voice recognition, wifi etc.

depends on what you need and want
