The oldest to ever compete was 72 year old Oscar Swahn who won a siver medal for shooting in the 'Running Deer' event.

  2. must b at least 16, there is no age limit as long as u qualify for your event.  This olympics just had sumone in thier late 60's or early 70's competing.  It was in horse jumping tho.

  3. There is only an age maximum in soccer which is like 33 but I guess it may vary from sport to sport and what skills are needed in that sport.

  4. No age limit. Youngest is 16. All sports.

  5. I don't believe there is a limit on maximum age, just minimum. Dara Torres was the oldest swimmer at 41. And during the Opening Ceremonies the commentators said the oldest athlete was 67. I don't remember what sport that was, sorry. But on the news today they interviewed a Yachter who was 58.

  6. You can be as old as you want provided that your good enough to qualify.

as others have said the oldest at Beijing is 67 from Japan and he is in the equestrian. There are 2 others in the equestrian who are over 60 and 1 from Australia who is at his first olympics.

    The oldest ever was 72.

Well and the soccer has an age limit of 23, but they can have upto 3 players over 23.

  7. You can be as old as you want. I heard a story about a 72 year old shooter who won silver in I believe Athens. I believe 16 is the youngest and it most likely differs with team sports.

  8. MusicLover,

There are no age limits to compete in the Olympics. Each sports rules are regulated by the sports governing body.

There are no max age in gymnastics but the minimum age the FIG has imposed for its olympic competitors is 16 by the last day of the year of competition. The reason for it is primarily because younger athletes are more agile, smaller, and their bodies are still developing. However, I find this inconsistent as they have junior championships where the athletes are still doing the same skills.

    I hope this helps.

    Enjoy!

  9. there doesnt appear to be any age minimum or limit except in gymnastics, i do know that there was a 12 year old and a 67 year old in the olympics this year

  10. NO AGE LIMIT ...... as long as you can qualify.   I believe you have to be at least 16 to be in the Olympics.

  11. i don't know the oldest but u have to be at least 16 to compete

  12. Aside from the 67-year old equestrian (whom I saw mentioned in another answerer's reply) and the already-mentioned no age limit rule, I do have one thing to add....

I was just watching the women's diving, or some of it, and one of the girls was 15 years old. So I'm not entirely sure about the 16 years old minimum.

  13. I think it depends on the sport itself, but I dunno.
