    Spelled Namur was a city in Belguim, but all that I could find on it.

  3. It comes from the name of a Belgian city, Namur.  Interestingly, 'manure' gets its name from the town, which was famous in the 1400s as a source of prime agricultural f***s.  The spelling changed slightly due to Walloons' inability to pronounce anything correctly.
