  1. the job you are asking about is a CNA and the average pay is really a useless number.

for info about being a CNA:

    http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos165.htm

i am not going to dig out all the figures for you but will post this example to show you the variances. if you then post an edit with the location you would like info about i will find that for you.

    variances example:

Median hourly earnings of dental hygienists were $30.19 in May 2006. The middle 50 percent earned between $24.63 and $35.67 an hour. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $19.45, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $41.60 an hour.

Earnings vary by geographic location, employment setting, and years of experience. Dental hygienists may be paid on an hourly, daily, salary, or commission basis.

Benefits vary substantially by practice setting and may be contingent upon full-time employment. According to the American Dental Association, 86 percent of hygienists receive hospital and medical benefits.

to give you an idea of how useless national averages are these wages are for a dental hygienist but the same variances hold true for almost any job:

    bottom 10% national $20.42

    bottom 10% Dothan, AL $14.73

    bottom 10% LA $24.92

    top 10% national $43.07

    top 10% Dothan, AL $23.17

    top 10% LA $55.48

the average is just not even close to what you will make in most locations there are just to big of variances.

by the way the national figures for CNA show the middle 50%earned between $9.09 and $12.80 an hour.

  3. Well if your job is like mine, the "angel" of death, then you can get some pretty good tips from the other workers. Hey, when its a slow week you can't blame me for finding a solution.

  4. It depends on how stinky the old people are. Generally about $10/hour, but more for garlicky people and people who refuse to eat rhubarb.

  5. Those are CNAs. You need to take a class before you can work, but they are quick and you can find free ones.

It would depend on the area. Most would be somewhere around $10 an hour. I workedin an expensive area and starting pay for regular positions where you could get benefits was $11.70. I knew someone in a diferent area starting at $9.75.
