How much will a company mark up the price of a power tool? Just need ball park percentages.

  1. they buy a hammer @ $2.50 and sell it for $9 to $10 dollars.

    Most places have a 300% - 900% mark up

  2. The markup is quite small on power tools. On other items it can be considerable.

If you want to geive me a list of actual SKUs or UPC numbers, I'll try and look it up a couple of items for you.

Right now there is an item in my store that is on clearance. It sold for $199.00 and Home Depot's cost was $150.00 but it is on clearance now for $42.50 and selling out fast.  Another item, a shed is listed for $349 and Home Depot's cost is $297 which coincidentally was the retail price a month ago.

One Ryobi circular saw sells for 59.99 and Home Depot's cost is $52 - not much of a mark up!
