Question:

What's the point behind "El Gawaz el 3orfy" (secret marriage) in Islam?

I'm not criticizing I'm just curious. Shouldn't marriage be a joyful event for family and friends? Why does Islam have such thing?

I understand some will say that if a man is already married and doesn't want problems, he'll marry another woman 3orfy. But that isn't fair for the 2nd wife and that would be going against what the Prophet Mohammed said which was "Treat all your wives equally". It isn't fair for the 1st wife either because that would be betraying her and lying to her. Your opinions?

  1. 'Urfi (Arabic: عرفي) comes from the Arabic word 'Urf, which means custom, convention, or a customary act.

In its modern context, 'Urfi is used to connote something which is in difference to official state ceremony or procedure. Thus a Nikah 'urfi in one Islamic land may denote it to be something synonymous to a common-law marriage in the west, while in some nations like Egypt, a Nikah 'Urfi is a marriage that takes place without the public approval of the bride's guardians, even though the contract is officiated by a religious cleric and sometimes by a state representative.

Nikāḥu’l-Mut‘ah,(Arabic: نكاح المتعة, also Nikah Mut‘ah literally, marriage[1] for pleasure[2]), or sigheh, is a time-delimited marriage contract according to the Usuli Shia schools of Shari‘a (Islamic law). The duration of this type of marriage is fixed at its inception and is then automatically dissolved upon completion of its term.

  2. Actually Gawaz El Mot3a is only allowed in Shiite sect and not in Sunni sect Get full information first

    See this

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunni-Shia_...

  3. its so muslim women can legally get sexual satisfaction from me without breaking islamic law.

  4. This secret marriage exists, but it's forbidden by Islam because it's unfair for the wife & because in most cases the parents of the bride don't know about the marriage (as it's essential for a marriage to be valid that the parents of the bride be aware).

Also marriage for pleasure is forbidden by Islam

  5. There is absolutely no such thing as 'secret marriage in Islam'.

    Alhamdulellah.

  6. It is not supposed to be secret. It is marriage without registering it with the government. By this legal steps can not be taken concerning this marriage, but it is true marriage from the religious point of view.

  7. this kind of marriage was not originally in Islam, actually, there are clear conditions have to be met so the marriage is acceptable in Islam, there are some differences between some scholars in some minor issues, which is also governed by traditions more than Islamic strict laws, but the main idea of marriage as a building block to a healthy normal family governs.

Before the modern state, as we know it, there were no documentation in marriage, not only in marriage actually, like the rest of the world, a man and a woman who wish to get married, regardless of each culture's tradition, laws, norms, etc. it is enough that they make a ceremony, bring gifts, etc (according to each cultural rules) and MOST importantly, the people around them, including family - of course - friends, neighbors get to know that those couples are living together because they are married..

when the state develops and armies were to be raised in huge numbers, the necessity to count, track, document and record men who can serve in the army emerged, and then emerged the central government who documents everything about it's people, including marriage..

I m not sure what exacly happened next but i can imagine that the new style of life, general defeat, backwarding, etc..had made some people twist the main essence of marriage and try to solve the society's chronic problems by not addressing things by its original names, and, at the same time want to label things they do in a religious manner, so came up the idea..but that's just how i think about it..don't take anything for granted, if you really want to know, search yourself and dig some more till you feel you find your answers..

  8. I agree with the gentlemen who said it's for sexual satisfaction. It's true. They want to make it look legit so that way they won't be called sinners or bad names. The entire religion doesn't make sense. For example: The prophet married a 9 year old, how bad is that? how could you look at an innocent child in such a disgusting way? (don't forget, he might have been in his upper 40s) You'll get 40 virgins when you go to heaven, if god doesn't allow adultery on earth why would he allow it in heaven? It's just sick...
