  1. some cars look fine with 20 inch rims...mainly the bigger cars but too much bigger is just for look and i think it looks stupid like this car with 40 inch rims... http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o91/p...

  2. In truth, mainly appearance.

In theory, the larger rims allow for smaller, stiffer sidewalls on a tire of a given diameter. The stiffer sidewalls could improve handling at the cost of ride comfort.

The problem with the theory is that it is almost impossible to exploit the advantage on city streets or public highways. City streets are too crowded and too regulated. Whatever your car can do, it can't drive through the rear bumper of the car in front of it. Public highways can be driven safely at decent speeds, but they are designed for 18-wheel trucks, not sports coupes.

  3. They are the sign of a true Idiot.

  4. Jster is very correct...the "bling factor " is a very strong case of form over function. Hit a pothole with a little speed and it's the "green factor" to repair your 20" wheel because there wasn't enough tyre between the wheel and the road.

  5. The point of 20" rims is to look like you've got a lot of money.  (to get ho's)

  6. It look kool? Just kidding...it's stupid on most cars, some cars may be okay with 20s. Stock for various cars can be close to it.

    Mitsubishi Eclipse - optional 18"

    Infiniti G37 - optional 19"

  7. BLING...BLING...!

  8. A LOT OF CAR MANUFACTURERS INSTALL FACTORY 20" AND 22" WHEELS ON THE MORE MODERN CARS. ITS JUST A LOOKS THING(MORE WHEELS LESS TIRE) THEY MAY LOOK NICE BUT TIRES ARE h**l TO REPLACE A LOT OF MONEY
