What's the point of Baby On Board signs on cars?

I really don't get those stupid signs. NO ONE wants to have an accident with anyone, and no one wants to kill anyone else...what does a baby on board sign really do? If I crash into someone and kill a 40 year old guy would it be any different than if It killed a baby? A life is a life and no one is trying to kill people on the road on purpose so take your frickin signs down already. And it's now like people can or are going to drive more "safe" around cars with these signs on them...

because if for any reason the driver is having to drive slowly you are aware why. i have a 6 month old who suffers with a medical condition where she can projectile vomit..sometimes i have to drive slowly over speed bumps and that so as not to make her sick, its just letting you know...a bit like a learner does!

The original reason for the signs is that if the car was in an accident the emergency services knew that they had to look for a small child as well as adults in the wreckage.
