In Grade 3, 6, 9, and 10 we have to take standardized testing from the government, yet it doesn't affect our marks. What's the point of it?

  2. They want to track the progress of students in different schools, different districts, etc. Schools receive funding based on how well their students are doing. For a variety of reasons, the government wants to keep track of how much our childrens is learning. They want to know if they need new programs or better teachers; if a new program is working; which are the best and worst schools... so on and so forth.

    Some schools may also use standardized testing to aid in student placement, i.e. whether you should be in honors or remedial classes, etc.
