Question:

What's the point of buying a router if you can't use the security features of WPA2?

I bought a LinkSys Router that has WPA2 security. Through 'tech support' (whom I despise with a passion) I learned that some computers cannot access internet with it, thus they set me up with the less secure WEP, which I didn't want. What the h**l is the point of buying a product with the purpose of WPA2 security and then have tech support completely bypass its purpose and nonchalantly tell you, 'oh yeah WPA2 doesn't work for a lot of computers, so we'll just set you up with WEP.' I'm sick of this BS, lies, manipulation, and semantics!!!

  1. dear,

Even cracking WEP isn't so very easy.Right now network.WPA2 is just 5% better than WEP thats all.Plus if you use WPA2 type security protection then the processing speed becomes very slow.best for fire wall its mantain  your network

    oke bye

  2. Actually, Windows released a hotfix for XP a while back in 2005 that allows you to use WPA2 encryption.

    Download KB893357

A little googling saves a lot of trouble (and a lot of computer rage). Enjoy.

  3. Even cracking WEP isn't so very easy.Right now I am using the same encryption method over my WI-FI network.WPA2 is just 5% better than WEP thats all.Plus if you use WPA2 type security protection then the processing speed becomes very slow.Even I use a LINKSYS router for WI-FI connection for home use and I had the same issue. But after talking to TECH SUPPORT I REALISED THAT WEP IS AS GOOD AS WPA2.Ya it is true that WPA2 doesn't work for a lot of computers especially with computers with 56K ethernet cards.
