Most mascaras and foundations claim they they have soothing antioxidants, or will leave skin with a perfect matte finish, or condition and extend lashes, so what is the point of buying primers?

  1. foundation makes your skin even, and mascara primer is good because it makes then longer and it lasts longer

  2. Mascara primer is used to help protect lashes from drying effects of mascaras. Doesn't matter what mascara you use, there will always be drying. Notice lashes falling out while you wear mascara? That's the mascara drying your lashes. It can also in some cases help prevent clumping, flaking, and make the lashes look thicker.

Foundation primer helps to even your skin's texture and prepare it for a smoother application of foundation. It also helps to keep foundation and other dirt and dust out of your pores, and helps your foundation last a lot longer. Can also be used to neutralize unwanted colourings on the face when using a coloured primer. The foundations can have as many claims as they want, but what your skin ends up looking like after the foundation is applied depends completely on your skin itself. A foundation can say "matte and long lasting" and it can give you a sheen instantly and wear off within the hour.

  3. Well for mascara, primer can make the mascara stay on longer and make it easier to put on.

For foundation, primer is a really good idea because it does a number of things:

    - Evens out your skin tone

    - Fills in pores, making them less noticeable, and giving you the appearance of smoother skin

    - Makes your foundation glide on smoother

    - Makes your foundation, and other makeup, last much longer

  4. its makes it last longer
