What's the point of spelling American with a "k" instead of a "c" as in Amerikan? Is that a put down or an allusion to something?

Other than someone not knowing how to spell the word, what is the point? I've noticed that foreigners on the internet tend to do it a lot and most of the times they have a gripe or put-down of this country.

  1. The majority of non-english speaking people of the world use the letter 'k' instead of the 'c' to make the sound.

    It's a language thing.

  2. Yes, it's a put-down in the same context as Obama's mentor used, it's calling out the 'white devil', Amerika hates brown people.

"foreigners on the internet tend to do it"

Yes, and Obama is wildly popular in the nonAmerican world.

  3. Many languages only use the "k" to make the k sound, as opposed to English where k and c can be used. This is probably a mistake or you're reading pages in different languages.

  4. It could be an attempt to connect America with Germany, specifically the Third Reich.  The German word for American is Amerikaner.

  5. It's spelled with a K in some Germanic languages.

  6. Don't let the anti-Americans fool you.  It's like AmeriKKKa.  Yes, it's a 'put down'.  And you're most likely paying billions out of your pocket to the country the idiot who uses it is from.

  7. As long as they all put it down I have no problem.

  8. Go to the google language page and translate America in the other languages. Most of the time the result will be spelled with a "k".
