What's the point of wasps?

As far as I can make out, they don't really do anything for anyone or anything. Nothing eats them, they do eat rotting fruit etc. But I can't see the point of them, they're really horrible, miserable ugly beings. Would it really matter if we just got rid of them?

  1. Wasps are highly important to ecosystems. Sawflies consume vegetation and so limit plant growth. Most other wasps are either parasitic or predaceous and therefore play a vital role in limiting the populations of thousands of other insect species. All wasps are eaten by other species, thereby providing many links in the food web. Many parasitic wasps have been cultured and used in the biological control of agricultural pests. Although a few of the stinging wasps are considered nuisances, they also provide benefits. Yellow jackets and paper wasps, for example, prey on caterpillars and other larvae that can destroy crops. Wasps feed on flower nectar and play a role in pollination.

  2. Their main purpose in life is to make baby wasps - same as any other organism. In between times they are part of food webs and as such prey on other organisms and are preyed upon themselves - this is what keeps everything at equilibrium.

They build the most beautiful nests and although they can be a bit annoying, it can hardly be said that they cause anyone that much trouble  and I don't think they are especially ugly either.

Other people find lions, wolves, foxes, birds of prey similarly annoying for various reasons and I don't think we should get rid of them either.

  3. To annoy and harass minorities and people of other beliefs. To complain  when they really have nothing to complain about.

  4. with out them we would die. drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  5. To make my life a living h**l!!!!!!!!!!

    Apart from that ???????

  6. whats your favourite animal ? RIGHT lets take your attuide towards wasps towards  your favourite animal,  see the other side of the coin aint so great is it ,,

wasps are part of this world , love it or hate it ,  I know they are annoying  but you could not elimate them if you tried , too small, too fast and they nest everywhere

  7. What's the point of asking the same question over and over again?

Anyway, what's the point of humans? Would it really matter if the animals got rid of us?

  8. whats the point of you?

  9. Lots of insects do not really have a point other than to live. When you think about it what is the point of a human being.

I think Elizabeth H sums it up quite nicely.

  10. To reproduce and make baby wasps

However many wasps pollinate flowers and eat insect pests

  11. I think they are here to annoy us!

When we are lucky enough in the summertime to actually get some sun-The wasps arrive!

  12. Haha Loz....was about to say the same thing!

  13. Wasps are no good for nothing. They are like seasonal terrorists that have one thing in mind - to sting. Wish they could be exterminated.
