Could I bring food from home and get past security with it? I'm just talking about a sandwich and some crackers. Would that be allowed?

  1. Yes, you can bring food. Just no liquids. Despite what one person said, a sandwhich is fine. And crackers do NOT have to be pre-packaged.

  2. So......I travel quite frequently, but that was before everyone became such paranoid freaks about everything. I would say that you need to bring things that are dry, so that means unfortunately, no sandwich for you. Crackers would be fine, just make sure they're prepackaged. Maybe bring some nuts to help tide your hunger(not under any circumstances bring peanuts. just don't). You should also cheak your airport in your area for their guidelines, because some airports are more strict than others.

  3. Yes, you can bring food, but no liquids.  Put your condiments on the sandwich (in other words, don't bring a small jar/packet of mayo or mustard).  I bring food with me all the time - no issues.

  4. Yes, airlines are encouraging you to bring your own food these days.  You can pretty much bring anything you like except alcohol.  It's best not to bring anything stinky though that might annoy the passengers around you!  Crackers and cheese are fine.

By the way, airlines are now charging for food that they serve you, so by all means, bring your own!

Oh yes, to add to what kw said - you can't bring any liquids through security, but you can buy a bottle of water or soda after you pass through security before you board.
