What's the problem???

My ex is from Trinidad and has lived in the United States for at least 15 years. For all of this time he has expressed interest in becoming a citizen and has made a few attempts to do so. Many years ago we stopped just short of our wedding and decided to end our relationship and go our separate ways. Because we share a child, we have managed to remain friends. Anywhoo, he expressed to me today that he is tired of "ducking and dodging" and that he is returning to Trinidad in a few months. My question is: Why could he not acquire American citizenship in 15 years of living here? He has a great job and is of good and moral character...What is the problem? What can I do to help him?

I realize that this is an immigration question however, I need the opinions of those who may have walked in these same shoes. Thank you in advance.

  1. TRINI MEN FULL OF TRICKS. He must want you to say well honey I will marry you, no need to go back to Trinidad.

    Hahahahahaa

  2. hmmmmm ... something spook that man dread.  after 15 years yuh doh just up and leave like that.

Better for him to fix up his papers then return home, if things don't work out here then he has the option of returning to the US

Then again he may be in a position to return home and live very comfortable, hence the willingness to leave.
