Question:

What's the problem with reducing the number of Victorian teams?

The AFL is looking to the future by expanding nationally. They are targetting West Sydney and Gold Coast for new teams. It will more than likely be at the expense of Melbourne clubs.

Many supporters of these clubs are crying foul and asking for more money as they are in financial trouble.

So what would be the advantage in keeping these teams? If North Melbourne or Richmond or even Carlton got the axe, I wouldn't be unhappy.

So what's the problem Melbourne people (or supporters) speak your mind?

  1. hawthorn man here, first off, i think you saying speak your mind will only lead to more thumbs down us that do, but here goes, i really don't think you know anything about our game, we were in trouble a few years back, as north are now, but richmond, now theres your ignorance, they have made a profit of over a million dollars two years running, have one of the largest supporter bases, they are just c**p on field at present, but some one has to be bottom, the wheel turns my friend.

being the expert you are on footy, you would know that sydney and brisbane are spoon fed with dosh by the afl, wouldn't you, in my opinion a complete waste of money and time.

now you have apoint with north, sad to say, and i like north but they just dont sem to have the support, what they are doin now is a bandaid job, i hope i am wrong but i think they are in real trouble to survive 10 years.

carlton, well thats joke, no need to say any more, huge amount of supporters, they woudnt allow that to happen in 200 years.

lets see if you can do some research fella, just be constructive not distructive, as soon as sydney lose a few games, you clowns will drop off like a lizards tail.

you did say speak your mind.

  2. Its like giving a kid an icecream wait til he likes it then taking it away from them. The supporters will be pissed because they have followed that team for multiple years and then they take it away from you. So then who are you going to barrack for?

  3. sounds like the afl needs new manegment

  4. I guess it would be the same problem with reducing the number of non-Victorian teams.

You just wont make or keep everyone happy.

  5. its definitely on the cards for some of the poorer clubs in the future and no one likes the idea of there beloved club selling its identity. But at the end of the day if it means merging or making a deal with afl so be it.

  6. Hey I have a good Idea lets just scrap, all the tradition out of the game. Interstate clubs knew what they were joining when they came in. The Melbourne clubs have over a hundred years of tradition they have built up the only club that has any right to any kind of respect is Sydney and Port Adelaude.

  7. what club do you support ? I wonder if you would be unhappy if your team faced the chop. There are no winners in this sort of arguement
