I've been taking holiday for a weeks, when i get back to the office fresh and start to work i couldn't open my excel 2003 programs (i use windows 2003 in WinXp, 500MB RAM), everytime i open my excel file its always shows up dialogue box written :

Windows Installer, prepare to install

Then a few minutes show up notification, written :

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable (while i dont connect in any network system)

When i hit Cancel, it shows up :

Error 1706. Setup cannot find the require files.

What's wrong with my excel program??

Please help, i'm desperate.

If i update my windows, all of my datas and also emails from outlook will be lost :(

  1. I suggest you test the computer registry documents were damaged, may lead to your question

You need to repair clean up the registry documents.

    http://www.Fix-pc-Master.com

    You can solve the problem

    Can help you

  2. make a copy your outlook file, then insert  the office cd in your cd drive,  and start excel.  you will NOT lose your data, it will copy the needed files it needs to run, and it should work fine  from there.

when you save a file with ms office, the file is not part of ms office, its just written in a format ms office can access, even if you uninstall ms office, your data is still there, it just will not be accesible until you re install ms offce, so dont worry about losing your data.  or yoy can try openoffice.org.  its a free office program thats compatible and works very similrly to ms office
