Question:

What's the procedure for taking an nonpaying client to court without an attorney? Please help!?

My friend sold some materials to somebody, who promised to pay her back later.

However, the buyer is now saying that he will not pay. (or not pay the full amount, I'm not exactly sure)

The only documents to prove communications between me friend and her client are emails.

She has already sent reminders to the buyer and now wants to take legal action without hiring an attorney.

So can I get a summary or step by step list of what needs to be done and how to do it? Thanks

  1. If your client owes less than a certain amount (llike $5000), you can file your suit in a small claims court.  You don't need a lawyer there.

  2. small claims court. print the emails for documentation.
