What's the process in joining the U.N. military/task operation force?

You don't "join" a U.N. force. The UN decides to put a military presence somewhere. The various countries try to get the leadership role. The US has a problem placing its troops under foreign command. After it's all ironed out, outfits are selected from whatever branches are deemed necessary to meet the goals set up by the UN. If you're in one of those outfits selected, you're in.
