What's the process of a medication going over the counter that was a prescription drug???

Like for example Zyrtec that was once a prescription drug. Now it can be bought over the counter. What is the process or what regulations does it have to go through? Is is like from the FDA or something? Thanks

yes must be FDA approved...they have to do several studies to make sure the drug is relatively safe to use for most individuals.
