There is a sailboat that has been sitting unregistered since 2005. What is the process of finding who the owner is? and/or getting a title for an abandoned boat in new jersey?

  2. Depends on where it has been abandoned.

The NJ DMV might be able to help as to who last registered  the boat If the NJ regristry #s are still on it.

If the owner still has title ...negotiate a price.

If it has been abandoned at a marina & storage fees have not been paid, they will know who owns it..

Eventually, the boat becomes theirs (depending on contract w/ marina) & they may  have the right to sell it to recover fees.

Flat out beached & abandoned , have to look into NJ salvage laws.

    About the same all over.
