Question:

What's the proper amount of teams for a fantasy football league?

I'm feeling 8, but a lot of people want to be in my league so I'm not sure what I should do? Some people say too many is bad because everyone's team only has one good player...some people say it's good because it shows who's really interested in the league. 8, 10, 12?!?! (Any personal expierence would really help :))

  1. 8 is pretty small.  10 is a good amount if you, but 12 is also a nice amount.  The more players you have the more you will need to know about football to do well.  Good fantasy players should be able to succeed in bigger leagues.

You might have more fun with 8 because you will have a much better team, and you wont need to have players on your team that you never heard about.

  2. I don't like leagues that are too small. It makes it all a big guessing game. The skill in fantasy football comes from managing the lower ranks of your team. It takes more brains to figure out who the 30th best WR in the league is than to have three big studs all on the same team. Yawn. I prefer 12 teams, but 10 is good enough. 8... I would never play in a league like that.

  3. I have played 24, 20 and several times 16. With 32 NFL teams, I like the 16 particularly if you can break into four divisions.

The same way that I play a couple of 18 team H2H baseball leagues. They reward the player that works to keep up.

But if most of your owners are relatively new, I would do the 10 or 12. I think that 12 is the Yahoo standard public league number.

    Good luck. Have fun.

  4. Too many IS not good.  However, 8 is too small.  10 or 12 is perfect.
