each one of them upon meeting you, at different times, tells the exact same joke/makes the same commen that you happen to think is neither funny nor original?

What's the proper etiquette? Prepare yourself for the next 100 encores of this statement?

  1. sorry i need points

  2. Etiquette? Depends on which country you are in. It also depends on whether the joke is just poor, or actually racist (presumably it is a comment about your origin / name / culture). In the UK, you could maintain a stony faced silence, and change the subject to the weather.  Alternatively you could politely (but with a slight smile and a hint of steel) comment 'Well that's the first time Ive heard that one!"

In the US, I guess you would be more upfront and pleasantly but assertively state that you don't find the comment amusing. Then change the subject.

The key is to try and keep smiling, but communicate your displeasure subtly.

  3. basically - yep!

  4. lol luca !
