Question:

What's the proper form here?

I'm a college sophomore and I'm almost done writing my final paper. I just have one last question... do I underline the title or not?

I can't remember what the proper form is under the MLA style guidelines. I've got the handbook, but I don't see any regulations. It's been a while since I've written an English paper (I'm a science major) so I'm a little rusty on the exact mechanical minutiae.

So, do I underline the title of my paper or not?

  1. On the title page (if required) or first page - not.

"...and center the title. Don't underline your title or put it in quotation marks; write the title in Title Case, not in all capital letters."
